It is highly rewarding that Uyi has reached this milestone, which comes as a recognition of his acceptance, association and reward for the lifetime opportunities he has created for youngsters to achieve their dreams of becoming football heroes.
By extension, this watershed is not just about Uyi; it is about his boat sailing further into the Island of relevance and history in its truest meaning, considering his impact on humanity and the global football fraternity. it is also an approval of the circle of friends and associates around Uyi, who was born in Birmingham, England.
Much to his status, he deserves a “welcome to the club” party.
Most of the acquaintances, such as the likes of AY and Peter of music group, PSquare, boasts of more than 12million followers each on Instagram. His close pal and top blogger, Tunde Ednut, has millions of organic followers on the platform.
By his reputation and what he does, the significance of this newly-found social media status of Uyi, who is also a brand expert is an added feather in his cap. In 2022, he was honoured by Cornerstone Christian University in Florida, United States of America, with the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree.
Though he had some background in entertainment, Uyi found his purpose in sports management. Today, he has worked with the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa, Odion Ighalo, among others.
Speaking in a recent interview, Uyi, whose ancestral origin is Benin City, Edo State, said: “Sports is real-time entertainment and the main stakeholders are talents. Managing an athlete and managing an artist is more or less the same. The difference is that they come from different backgrounds. An artist can just emerge from the streets, while in football, they may go through an academy, so they are more grounded and there is a structure in that than in music.
“My experience working with talents has made me know if an artist is ready to work or not. It is not easy because working with talent is a talent on its own. It looks glamorous but it is not easy, it is a cut-throat business”.
He resides in London, but Uyi is highly supportive of the Nigerian entertainment industry. He was recently at KOKO London, where Davido launched his new album, “Timeless”. In March this year, he was deeply involved in the promotion of “Afrobeatz Invasion with Psquare” at Audi Dome in Munchen, Germany.
