American rap star Belcalis Cephus, better known as Cardi B, has said that she is overflowing with emotions as the U.S. presidential election kicks off.

The Grammy-winning rapper admitted she’s feeling unusually nervous, even likening her anticipation to running for the presidency herself.

“I don’t know why I’m so nervous for tomorrow. I feel like I’m running for president,” she told her 36 million followers on X.

Recently, Cardi B took her support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris to the stage at a rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Appearing on Friday, November 1, 2024, she was greeted with cheers but appeared momentarily flustered.

Pausing to remove her gloves, she gathered herself, saying, “One second, guys. One second!” After another pause, she continued, “I don’t take lightly the call. I’m sorry, guys, I’m a little nervous. I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life.”

During her speech, she criticised Donald Trump, Harris’ Republican rival, for what she called an “anti-women” agenda.

“Donald Trump is a hustler who is trying to hustle women out of their rights and hustle Americans out of their money…He’s selling more than watches and sneakers. He’s selling bigotry, misogyny, division, chaos, and confusion,” she said.

Following the rally, Cardi took to X to dismiss rumours that she had been paid for her endorsement, firmly stating she received no payment for supporting Harris at the event.
