Marshall Bruce Mathers III, popularly known as Eminem, has been ranked fifth on Billboard’s list of the greatest artists of the 21st century.

The ranking places Taylor Swift as the number one artiste of the 21st century, with Drake, Rihanna, and Post Malone coming in second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.

Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), released in July 2024, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, marking his 11th chart-topping album in the United States. This achievement ties him with Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, and Kanye West for the most No. 1 albums in U.S. history.

The album’s lead single, Houdini, debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Eminem’s highest-charting song in a decade. It also topped the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts. In the United Kingdom, Houdini debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, securing Eminem’s 11th UK number-one single and the highest opening-week sales of 2024.

Eminem further earned this legacy with a standout performance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, recreating his iconic 2000 VMAs act while performing Houdini and Somebody Save Me with Jelly Roll.

With a career spanning over two decades, Eminem remains one of the most influential artistes in contemporary music.
