Former senator and ex-lawmaker for Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has fired back at veteran entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, after the latter threw shade at him over his flashy lifestyle.
The exchange began earlier in the week after Dino posted a video on social media boasting about his uniqueness, saying, “There’s no one else like me. I’m limited edition.”
In response, Charly Boy took a swipe at him, suggesting that his constant public display of wealth may be a sign of depression.
“Not all mental illnesses are noticeable,” Charly Boy said, hinting that Dino’s need for validation could be deeper than it appears.
But Melaye didn’t take it lightly.
In a video shared on Thursday via Facebook, the former lawmaker blasted the singer, claiming he was using his name to chase relevance.
“He wanted to use my name to gain popularity because his destiny has been thrown inside freezer,” Dino said, in his usual theatrical style.
He also mocked Charly Boy’s living conditions and lifestyle.
“I heard he has a leaking roof but he has no money to fix it. He places a whole big bike in front of his house like a statue and he doesn’t see that as a show-off,” he said.
Dino, known for his luxury cars, designer outfits, and controversial social media videos, has often faced criticism for being more flamboyant than focused.
Charly Boy, a longtime social critic and one-time activist, has also never held back in calling out public figures for what he sees as unnecessary drama.
As of press time, Charly Boy is yet to respond to Dino’s latest comments.
