Veteran Nollywood actress, Jumoke George, has finally reunited with her daughter, Adeola, who was declared missing four years ago but was recently rescued in Mali.
The emotional reunion was shared on Monday by actress and Talk To B show host, Biola Bayo on Instagram, who helped bring the case to public attention.
“Victory at last! Adeola is finally back home,” Bayo wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you Nigerians, thank you Hon. Abike Dabiri, Miss Oyiza Luna, and my dear brother Adeniyi Johnson.”
The 41-year-old Adeola had been declared missing after she left Ibadan in 2020 to visit her mother in Lagos but never arrived.
She was later discovered to have been trafficked in Mali, according to the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
“Adeola, daughter of popular actress Jumoke George, is back home from Mali, where she was trafficked,” Dabiri confirmed.
Jumoke George had earlier opened up in an emotional episode of the TalkToB Show hosted by Biola Adebayo.
In tears, she revealed how the pain of losing her daughter and declining health had forced her to take shelter in a church, hiding her situation from the public.
“My first child, Adeola, has been missing. I’ve been looking for her for the past four years. Any small amount of money I got from work was spent looking for her,” she said.
The actress said she was shocked when her mother in Ibadan called to say Adeola, who had planned to travel to Lagos, never arrived.
“She just called one day to say she hadn’t seen Deola. I said, ‘I haven’t seen her either.’ That was how it started.”
According to her, the last time she heard from Adeola, the young woman had called to apologise and explained she had followed some friends abroad “in search of a better life” but had ended up trapped in another situation.
Dabiri praised Biola Adebayo and actor Niyi Johnson for helping in the efforts that led to Adeola’s return.
She shared a photo of Adeola with both stars and said more updates would be provided soon.
