No fewer than 100 women, drawn from Enugu South Local Council, Enugu State, yesterday, benefitted from Federal Government’s skill training programme aimed at equipping them for job and wealth creation.

The programme, organised by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, according to one of the facilitators and Enugu representative of the 50 Million African Women Project, Mrs. Adanma Otuonye, was initiated to make the women self-reliant and more responsive to the yearnings of their homes.

Otuonye, who listed skills the women were trained in to include bead making, traditional hand fans, make-up for day and night occasions, head gear, food processing, among others, stated that the skills are important to enable them run businesses.

“We trained them on financial literacy, how to run a business, among others. The idea is for them to learn a skill and start small, then be able to manage as little as N20, 000. So, it is a pleasure being here and seeing this happen within Enugu,” she said.
