The Federal Government has moved to strengthen collaboration with water experts in a bid to improve water resources management and enhance food security across Nigeria.
The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, received the National President of the Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologists, Fashe-Adam Francisca, and her delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ali Ibrahim Dallah, alongside other technical directors of the Ministry, focused on deepening technical cooperation in the management of Nigeria’s water resources.
The stakeholders discussed ways to leverage hydrogeological expertise to support sustainable water supply, improve agricultural productivity and strengthen national food security efforts.
Utsev said stronger partnerships with professionals in the water sector remain essential to addressing challenges around water availability and ensuring that water resources contribute effectively to national development.
The ministry in a press statement said on Friday said the engagement underscores the government’s commitment to using science, innovation and expert knowledge to drive sustainable solutions in water management and agriculture.
