11 die, others injured in Lagos-Ibadan auto crash

About 11 people were confirmed dead, while seven were injured in a multiple accident that resulted in fire outbreak at Isaara Bridge, Ogere on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday night.

About 11 people were confirmed dead, while seven were injured in a multiple accident that resulted in fire outbreak at Isaara Bridge, Ogere on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday night.
 
Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Mr. Ahmed Umar, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta yesterday, said the incident happened on Saturday night.
 
Umar noted that the accident, which occurred at 10:35p.m.was caused by excessive speed and dangerous driving, saying it involved two Mazda buses and a car.
 


He noted that the number plates of the vehicles could not be identified due to the extent of the fire.
 
The sector commander, who explained that the deceased were burnt beyond recognition, stressed that seven people were rescued with injuries and taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere.
 
He stated that one of the injured victims was taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan.
 
He said: “FRSC Ogun State sector Command wishes to inform the motoring public of the multiple crash that occurred late last night, involving three vehicles that resulted in a fire outbreak before Isaara Bridge, Ogere area.
 
“A total of 11 persons were confirmed dead, seven were rescued with injuries, which consisted of five male adults, one female adult and one male child.
