11 killed, many injured in fresh Plateau, Kaduna attacks

Five persons, including three women, were reported killed, on Monday night, at Mararaban Tipper, near Nzhwerenvi village, in Bassa Local Council of Plateau State.

Also, suspected Fulani militias invaded a Zangon Kataf community in Kaduna State, killing six people and injuring others. They also razed houses.

The National Publicity Secretary of Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Davidson Malison, confirmed the killings in a statement he issued, yesterday, in Jos.

According to him, three women were killed at Mararaban Tipper and a man killed at Kpara village.

“Another man was ambushed and attacked along Gero Road from Tin Mining Site, but he died in a hospital, while three people, who sustained gunshot injuries are receiving treatment in a hospital,” the statement added.

During the attack, The Guardian gathered, a bus was burnt down and motorcycles were carted away.

Spokesman of Plateau State Police Command, ASP Ubah Ogaba, did not respond to calls put through his phone for comment on the incident.

The militia reportedly stormed Unguwan Bulus village in Zaman Dabo community, Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf on Monday night with sophisticated weapons while the villagers were asleep.

Spokesman for Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Luka Biniyyat, told The Guardian: “That is my village. The militias came and committed heinous crimes. They stealthily walked into the village around 9 p.m. on Monday and attacked three compounds.

“They left the following casualties at Unguwan Bulus: Friday Danjuma, 48; Alice Danjuna, 41; Queen Danjuma, 12; Catherine Ishaku, 41; Felicia Bulus, 80; and Andraus Joseph, 18.”

When The Guardian contacted the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mohammed Jalige, to confirm the incident, he said: “Let me get the confirmation. I will get back to you.”
