11 MDAs remitted over N2.6b in 2019, says FRC
A total sum of N2,569,075,126.39 was remitted as operating surplus by eleven ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) into the Federation Account as independent revenues in 2019 as against the N7,752,343,691.31 remitted by 14 MDAs in 2018, the Fiscal Responsibility Commission report has disclosed.
The report, which was obtained by The Guardian, shows a decline of N5, 183,268,564.91 remittances in 2019 when compared to the 2018 figures filed by 14 MDAs
The report highlights the remittances of the eleven MDAs as follows: Federal Ministry of Education (N40,906,635.39), Federal Road safety (N2,204,075,290.6), Ministry of Environment (N62,878,398), Ministry of Health (N16,085,299.28) and the Office of the Secretary to Federal Government (N45,344,316).
Others are the Ministry of Labour and Productivity (N145, 513,224.25), National Youth Service Corps (N14, 515,054.06), Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation (N27, 068,000), Ministry of Justice (N544,942.), Ministry of Youths and Urban Development (N1,700,000) and the Court of Appeal (N10, 443,966.31).
The compendium expressed dismay over poor remittances, saying: “It is pertinent to state that the responses and submission rate is disappointing despite the requests and reminders for submissions mailed out to the MDAs. The commission’s request would help to assess the achievement of revenue targets and level of compliance. Only eight MDAs completed their 2019 submissions while ten did in 2018.”
