One hundred and sixty stranded Nigerians in the United States yesterday arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja.
The voluntary returnees came aboard Ethiopian Airlines’ Boeing 787 flight, with Registration ET-AOQ.
The evacuation is the initiative of the Federal Government to return about 4000 Nigerians from 67 countries across the globe. At least two batches have returned from the United Kingdom and one from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The latest returnees have been isolated in fulfillment of the guidelines of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.
The Consulate General of Nigeria in New York, on behalf of the Nigerian Missions in United States of America, earlier confirmed the one-way flight being arranged for the evacuation of stranded Nigerian nationals in the American nation to Abuja on Sunday, May 10, 2020.
According to the consulate, all travelers were to fly economy class at the projected cost of $1,300 to $1,700 per adult, with the usual provision of appropriate percentage reductions for children and infants for the one-way ticket.
