1996 Set rewards top 10 Abadina College JAMB scorers with cash prizes

The 1996 set of the Abadina College Old Students Association (ACOSA) has rewarded the top 10 high-performing students in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with a total sum of ₦400,000.

Representatives of the 1996 set, Mrs. Folake Oketola and Mrs. Rashidat Oyinlola, presented the cash awards to the students at a brief ceremony, urging them to remain focused and continue to strive for excellence as they transition into tertiary education.

They noted that the initiative was quickly put together to encourage academic excellence and to inspire other students to aspire to be the best.

“We want you to know that your efforts have not gone unnoticed. You are the best, and you’ve made our school proud. Don’t fall victim to bad influences—be good role models. We believe in you, and this token is a way to show our support. Society is watching, and greater recognition will come your way if you continue to stand out among your peers,” the representatives said.

They also advised the students to steer clear of negative peer pressure, remain diligent, and always aim higher, adding that “with greater dedication and seriousness, the sky will be your stepping stone.”

In her response, the Principal of Abadina College Senior School, University of Ibadan, Mrs. Esther Rolayo Adegbayo, thanked the 1996 set for their commitment to promoting academic excellence.

“Abadina is known for greatness and service. The class of 1996, who graduated nearly 30 years ago, have deemed it fit to invest in the next generation. In another 30 years, you too will come back to give back to this school.

“If you win the World Cup, the victory is yours first, then your family and your community share in it. Today, you have won one—academic excellence—and this cash reward is a well-deserved honour. We deeply appreciate this generous gesture, especially as the 1996 set prepares to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their graduation next year,” the principal added.
