2,000 athletes set for MTN champs athletics competition in Benin

Founder/CEO, Making of Champions (MoC), Bambo Akini, on Wednesday disclosed that over 2,000 athletes will participate in the three-day sporting event tagged MTN Champs Athletics Competition, taking place in Benin, the Edo State capital.
The MTN Champs, which is a track and field athletics competition in partnership with Making of Champions (MoC), will be held from tomorrow—Thursday, Friday, and the finals on Saturday, Akini disclosed.
Briefing newsmen in Benin, Founder/CEO, Making of Champions (MoC), Bambo Akini, said the MTN Champs Athletics Competition kicks off in Edo State this week, from Thursday to Saturday, at two different locations: Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Sports Complex.

He noted that the three-day event, sponsored by MTN Nigeria and tagged MTN Champs, is a track and field athletics competition in partnership with Making of Champions (MoC), aimed at empowering and discovering young athletic talent at the grassroots level.
Akini added that all events are to be held in Benin City with support from the Edo State government, where a total of 2,000 athletes are expected to participate.
Akini appreciated the Edo State government for providing support in the areas of security, logistics, and accommodation for the over 2,000 athletes participating in the competition.
He said the events are billed to hold at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, with 1,000 athletes competing at the stadium facility and another 1,000 athletes converging at UNIBEN Sports Complex, all for the regional activities.
