Primate of All Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, has said that the 2019 general elections would be more amazing than that of 2015.

Speaking at the 2018 Divine Commonwealth Conference (DIVCCON) in Abuja yesterday, Okoh urged Christians to elect the candidates of their choice.

He also called on Nigerians to shun vote-buying and other electoral vices in next year’s general elections.

The cleric recalled that prior to the 2015 elections, bloodshed was predicted, “but God in his infinite mercy took another direction and those predictions were averted.”

He added: “Electioneering period is coming again and we must not forget the scripture that says; as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without good works is dead. You cannot, after praying here for one week for God to restore Nigeria, return home to sell your vote or aid ill-willed politicians to their elections for temporary selfish benefits.”

Okoh urged Christians to be representatives of their communities, states and the nation by telling everyone back home to ensure that their votes count.

According to him, sincere human efforts have failed to restore the nation to its glorious days; hence leaders at all levels should begin a reformation that would enthrone righteousness and justice, equity and fairness.

Speaking on the theme, ‘I will restore’, he noted that Nigeria had passed through so many locust years, adding: “Nigeria’s restoration in the political and economic spheres would depend on its leaders and Nigerians in general.

Enough of the self-deceit by believing that we can fix things without God. Seeking the face of God for restoration should not be left to the religious leaders alone; the political leaders must realise that unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. “
