Former presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), AIhaji Bashir Othman Tofa, has expressed confidence on ability of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammad to fix numerous challenges presently bedeviling the nation.

Tofa, who attributed the prevailing social economic and insecurity threatening the sovereignty of the country to poor leadership, insisted the nation is urgent need of pragmatic and detribalise Nigerian to put the country on the right track.

The elder statesman made the submission when he hosted delegation of the Coalition for Civil Society Organisations for Transparency and Good Governance, (COCSOTRAGG) at his Gandu Alubasa Mansion in Kano.

The delegation was in Kano to solicit his support for Governor Bala Mohammad ahead of the 2023 presidential election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Responding to the request of the group, Tofa expressed willingness to support the governor, if he decided to contest for the number one political seat in the country.

Although, Tofa maintained that he has since stepped aside from active partisan politics and no longer belong to any political party, he expressed readiness to stand by Mohammad who he believed possess the ability remedy the wrongs in the country.

Earlier, the National Coordinator of COCSOTRAGG, Comrade Mohd A. Jibo, who extolled the leadership qualities and track record of the governor, said his giant stride in Bauchi State is clear evidence of his capacity to make significant change, if he eventually become the president.

A release issued by Aliyu Mohammad disclosed that another leader of the delegate, Habibullah Umar also emphasised that with the calibre of Tofa’s support, the call on Mohammad to consider joining the 2023 presidential race would not fall in deaf ears.
