2023: Yoruba group wants Atiku, Tambuwal, Tinubu others to give Southeast a chance

A Southeast socio-political group, Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum, yesterday, urged former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other presidential aspirants from the North and Southwest zones to shelve their ambitions and allow the Southeast region to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in office in 2023.
 
In a statement, the President of the Forum, Akin Malaolu, said his position was hinged on the fact that the Southeast remains the only zone yet to produce President of Nigeria since 1999.

The statement reads: “We are now at a turning point and choices must have to be made. Choices explained in a manner that would engineer understanding on the hearer. 
  

“This is the turning point when reasonable leaders must look into each other’s eyes and say ‘look we are all wrong and we must dialogue to agree.”
 
Malaolu said the forum would appreciate a role, noting that it would differentiate problems from solutions.
  
“We must not allow those who orchestrated the crisis at hand to succeed into smuggling themselves into the circles of reasonable leaders that still understood the significance of saving 250 million Nigerians and a push into war of avarice, hate and unguided wrong propositions from religions. 

“We must act faster than before to admit that we have all wronged Nigerians and peace must be uppermost now than before,” he added.
