2024: Lagos shuts 528 organisations, religious centres for noise pollution
Lagos State government has revealed that 528 organisations, including religious centres, were shut in 2024 for noise pollution in the state.
The General Manager of the Lagos Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr Babatunde Ajayi, revealed this on Tuesday during a briefing on the activities of his agency in 2024 and the plans for 2025.
According to him, in all its activities, his agency strives to ensure Lagos State becomes a better place for the residents and visitors.
He added that in 2024, LASEPA made some progress in the area of regulations and hopes to build on the successes it recorded in 2024 moving forward.
“We hope 2025 will be better than last year. We hope we can engrave in the hearts of the people of Lagos environmental consciousness. This year, we will double our efforts in the area of advocacy,” he said.
He further said that the agency hopes to be more proactive, which is why it has opened more channels of communication through which people can reach the agency seamlessly.
“We have digitised lots of our processes. We are doubling our public complaint centre so that people can reach us,” he added.
He also said that the agency, under his leadership, hopes to double its enforcement activities this year to further drive compliance.
“We will be holding industries more responsible this year,” he disclosed.
