The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Caucus in Kwara State has called for the party’s 2027 governorship ticket to be zoned to Kwara North Senatorial District, describing the move as a step toward fairness, equity, and justice.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, the caucus, led by Barrister Kunle Sulyman, urged residents affected by the ongoing Urban Renewal Programme of the state government to seek redress through legal and administrative channels rather than resort to protests or allow themselves to be used by opposition parties.

“For those aggrieved members of the public who may have complaints about the effects of the ongoing Urban Renewal Programme, they are advised to seek redress through the appropriate quarters of government, rather than allowing themselves to become agents of opposition,” the caucus stated.

They acknowledged that developmental projects can initially cause discomfort but stressed that such inconveniences are temporary and necessary for the state’s long-term progress.

“The developmental efforts of the government in the capital city are in line with the Urban Renewal Project under the New Ilorin City Master Plan,” the elders said.

“We therefore urge opposition parties to display a sense of patriotism by supporting and joining hands with the laudable programmes of this administration for the progress of Kwara State.”

The caucus also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the visible infrastructural developments across the state and advised him to address public complaints to minimize hardship.

They further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the ongoing federal infrastructure projects in Kwara State and pledged their continued support for his administration.
