A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and aspirant for the Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency of Benue State, Nathaniel Ikyur, has called for calm and introspection following the Court of Appeal judgment on the party’s leadership crisis.

The Court of Appeal recently dismissed the appeal filed by the faction of the party led by Saminu Turaki.
In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Ikyur, a former Senior Special Assistant to a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and current Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing, Aminu Waziri TambuwalPanel indicts Tambuwal for alleged N117 billion fraud, said the PDP must now close ranks and focus on rebuilding the party.
He expressed confidence that what the party requires at the moment is unity and collective effort to work for the good of Nigerians and deliver the dividends of democracy.

Ikyur, who also served as Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Governor of Benue State, noted that the widening gap between the people and leadership under the current administration could only be bridged by the PDP.

He expressed optimism that the once-dominant party would bounce back if members unite and work together.
The PDP stalwart stressed the need for all interest groups within the party to come together in pursuit of the common interest that binds Nigeria together, warning against comments that could further complicate the reconciliation process.

According to him, Nigerians are eagerly waiting for the PDP to provide credible leadership and rescue the nation.
He therefore urged key actors within the party to exercise restraint and support efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Now that the judiciary, through the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, has delivered its verdict, let us come together and rebuild our party and continue from where our founding fathers stopped,” he said.

“We can defeat the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming elections and regain the trust of Nigerians. This is a family disagreement that can be resolved for the benefit of all.”
