The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has disclosed that the institution will be having a two-day Research Fair and Exhibition as part of activities for its 35th Convocation Ceremony.
The institution is also set to graduate 7,769 graduands on its 35th Convocation scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Florence Obi made this known yesterday while briefing the Press at the UNICAL Senate Chambers on activities lined up for the 35th Convocation of the institution in Calabar.
She said the Fair was designed to extensively package the unique, creative potentials and research work of the institution.
Prof. Obi stated, “This year’s fair is a two-day event. It is designed in such a way that we will extensively package our unique and creative potential and research work for marketability to the world. We are expecting investors who will come in to see what we have.
“Permit me to state here that for the first time, our research fair is being supported by Fidelity Bank. Let me use this opportunity to call on other Banks, Investors, and Co-operate Organisations to support future research fairs. We hope that such partnership and support could lead to the uptake of research results by such sponsors and supporters.
“The Research fair will be concluding with prizes for the best Faculties.”
While speaking on other activities for the week, the VC said the institution would give an honorary award to the Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan for his service and contribution to the unity and development of the country.
Prof. Obi hinted that the two other honoraries are females, the Chief Executive of North West, Oil and Gas, Winifred Agbani and the Chief Executive of Agbola Farms, Tope Johnson.
She said the three were carefully selected for their different services to humanity and the country.
