62,000 lawyers paid practising fee in 2022, says NBA chair

President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Akpata, has said 62,000 lawyers paid their practising fee this year, just as 38,000 members participated in the recent election.

While the president-elect, Y. C Maikyau, has promised that his administration would build on past legacies and speak to power, particularly if it borders on issues that affect the masses, he thanked lawyers for giving him opportunity to steer the affairs of the Bar.

The duo disclosed this at the “NBA in Transition: Conversation with the NBA Presidents” in Lagos.

Following the development, the Chairman, NBA Technical Committee on Conferen ce Committee Planning (TCCP), Tobenna Erojikwe, explained that the distribution of the bags for the conference was stopped because the collection of conference bag was put on hold.

While he urged the aggrieved lawyers to be calm, Erojikwe said the committee had to put in hold collection of materials for the conference when it discovered that they were of low quality.

“We have asked the supplier to give us quality bags that we paid for when they noticed the less quality in the bathes of bag supplied,” he stated.
