8,960 IDPs, returnees get transitional support materials


The Project Coordination Unit (PCU), Yobe and Northeast Multi-sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) have distributed transitional support materials to 8,960 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and returnees.

Flagging off the distribution in Damaturu, the MCRP Coordinator, Musa Jidawa disclosed that recovery support project is funded by the World Bank to restore livelihoods of IDPs. He said the MCRP and PCU projects are sited in insurgency affected communities of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.

According to him, the project was to improve livelihood of affected communities by facilitating recovery from the devastating effects of Boko Haram insurgency.


He said the targeted beneficiaries included IDPs, host communities, returnees and society’s most vulnerable members.

According to him, the four components of recovery support projects are to strengthen peace building, stability and social cohesion.

He said the distributed recovery support materials include basic kits and productive assets.
