A visionary leader in project control and management

Rasheed Ajirotutu

In the fast-paced world of construction and engineering, where precision meets pressure and deadlines drive innovation, Rasheed Ajirotutu has established himself as a visionary in Project Control and Management.

His journey is marked by persistence, innovation, and global impact—traits that define a career focused on data-driven foresight and an unwavering pursuit of excellence. Rasheed began his professional path in 2004 after earning a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Estate Management from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Nigeria.

What started as an interest in Facility Management & development has evolved into a lifelong mission to transform the planning, management, and delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects.

Over the past two decades, he has progressed through various sectors—finance, logistics, and construction—developing a comprehensive understanding of how capital, time, and people intersect within complex project environments.

Today, Rasheed is recognised across continents for his leadership in forensic delay analysis, AI-driven scheduling, and predictive project control.

His expertise effectively bridges traditional project management and emerging technologies, which are crucial for anticipating risks and optimising resources before issues arise—capabilities becoming increasingly vital in billion-dollar infrastructure programs.
Rasheed’s educational background reflects his professional depth. He earned a Master’s in Management from Minot State University in North Dakota in 2023 and is currently completing an advanced program in Project Management and Information Technology with a specialisation in Artificial Intelligence at New England College, New Hampshire. His qualifications are further distinguished by globally respected credentials, including PMP, PSP, PMI-RMP, CAPM, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. He is also a Certified Management Professional from the London Business School and holds fellowships from several prestigious professional institutes, such as the Africa Institute of Public Administration (DFAI), the National Institute of Professional Engineers and Scientists (FNPES), and the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC).

As an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), he combines technical precision with dispute-resolution expertise—a unique blend that defines his cross-disciplinary strength. Rasheed’s career showcases remarkable versatility. He started in Nigeria’s financial sector, managing cash operations at Citibank and First City Monument Bank, where he instilled a strong sense of control and accountability.

He then transitioned to logistics management at Relyant LLC in Bagram, Afghanistan, overseeing complex transportation networks that supported military infrastructure. During this time, he achieved a cost reduction in the supply chain and received commendations for operational safety and reliability.

His shift into construction in 2013, marked a new chapter in his career. In Qatar, Rasheed played key roles in delivering infrastructure for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, high-rise developments, and mixed-use estates in Doha, Lusail, and Al-Khor.
His leadership at firms like KBR Trading & Contracting and Al Hassan International resulted in significant performance and efficiency improvements. One of his notable achievements was the creation of a predictive analytics dashboard that integrated Primavera P6, Power BI, and EVM metrics to monitor cost and schedule variances in real time.

This innovation transformed traditional monitoring into proactive project control, establishing a methodology recognised as an emerging standard in the field. Currently, Rasheed serves as a Project Control Specialist and Delay Analyst at Vanderlande Industries, working on the $19 billion JFK Terminal One Baggage Handling System project in New York. He introduced a forensic delay framework that guided commissioning readiness and claims strategy, ensuring schedule integrity during one of the airport’s most complex modernisation efforts. In an industry that has often been slow to adapt to digital transformation, Rasheed is a strong advocate for AI-driven project control.

He champions predictive models that can identify potential cost overruns before they occur, allowing teams to take corrective action early. Beyond his fieldwork, Rasheed is an active researcher and public intellectual.

He has authored or co-authored 27 peer-reviewed journal articles and various national newspaper opinion pieces on topics such as AI integration, lean construction, predictive analytics, and sustainability. An essential part of Rasheed’s legacy is his commitment to mentoring emerging professionals.

He frequently collaborates with project management institutes and peer networks to train engineers and planners in modern control systems. Rasheed’s accomplishments have garnered him widespread recognition in his profession.

His fellowships and certifications reaffirm his credibility among peers, while his leadership on globally significant projects highlights his influence on the broader field. As the construction industry enters the era of Industry 5.0—characterised by sustainability, automation, and human-machine collaboration—Rasheed’s work epitomises the future of the profession.

His predictive analytics dashboards and forensic delay models illustrate the shift from reactive management to proactive, anticipatory control.
