Abayomi Mighty calls for end to political feud in Ogun

A public policy analyst, and 2027 Nigerian presidential hopeful, Abayomi Mighty, has called for an end to the ongoing feud between the former governor and current senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and incumbent Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Abayomi, in a statement, described the rift as a needless power tussle that threatens the state’s stability.

Condemning recent clashes—including threats to demolish Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s properties, he called on both leaders, “sons of Ogun,” to sheath their swords in the interest of the state.

According to him, the state once stood as an intellectual powerhouse producing giants in academia, business, and politics, but has now descended into pettiness and vendettas.

Mighty alleged that attacks on the former governor are rooted in jealousy, citing Daniel’s enduring popularity and achievements.

He pointed to the federal government’s adoption in March 2025 of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), established during Daniel’s tenure in 2005, as proof of Daniel’s visionary leadership in education.

He criticized the Abiodun administration for what he described as stagnation in infrastructure, technology, and urban planning. Mighty highlighted poor road networks, neglect of the tech sector, and “executive recklessness” in demolitions as signs of regressive governance.

Abayomi Mighty condemned the planned demolition of Daniel’s primary residence and luxury hotel in Sagamu, calling it “backward thinking” driven by “unbridled jealousy.” He recalled a similar incident in 2023 when the government demolished DATKEM Plaza, owned by Daniel’s wife, under contested claims of code violations despite alleged valid permits.

He maintained that these properties had proper approvals and that the demolition threats are politically motivated.

According to him, Daniel remains widely loved in Ogun East and across the state, and any attempt by Abiodun to run for Senate in 2027 would meet fierce resistance. Mighty alleged that such a move is driven by a desire to gain immunity and avoid possible EFCC investigations.

He reminded the governor that “power is transient” and that leadership should be about building, not destroying and urged Daniel to remain focused.

“This is a clarion call for mature politics in Ogun State—unity and progress must come before personal grudges,” he said.
