The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Adedeji Olajide, has offered special prayers for peace, security and the safe return of abducted schoolchildren and their teachers in Oyo State during the ongoing Umrah pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Olajide, who is performing the lesser Hajj alongside his wife, Alhaja Shakirat Adenike Olajide, said the spiritual exercise provided an opportunity to seek Allah’s guidance, mercy and blessings for Oyo State, Nigeria and their people.
In a statement issued on his behalf by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, the federal lawmaker said he was particularly disturbed by the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, describing the incident as heartbreaking.
According to him, the couple prayed for the victims’ safety and speedy reunion with their families, while asking Allah to comfort relatives affected by the ordeal.
“The unfortunate incident has continued to weigh heavily on the hearts of residents of Oyo State and Nigerians at large. No family should be made to endure the pain and uncertainty associated with the abduction of innocent children,” the statement read.
Olajide also prayed for divine wisdom, courage and protection for security agencies as they intensified efforts to secure the unconditional release of those still in captivity and restore lasting peace to affected communities.
The two-term lawmaker committed the government and people of Oyo State to Allah, seeking enduring peace, unity, economic prosperity and sustainable development across the state.
He also prayed for divine guidance for leaders at all levels of government, urging them to prioritise the welfare of the people, uphold justice and promote unity.
The lawmaker extended his prayers to Nigeria, asking for divine intervention in the country’s security, economy and democratic journey.
He expressed optimism that the nation would overcome its current security challenges and continue on the path of stability, justice, national cohesion and inclusive development.
Olajide also remembered the political future of Oyo State and Nigeria in his prayers as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.
He prayed for peaceful, credible and issue-based elections, while asking Allah to grant leaders the wisdom to place public interest above personal ambition.
The federal lawmaker expressed appreciation to constituents in Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency and residents across Oyo South Senatorial District for their continued prayers, goodwill and support.
