Abiodun signs social investment programme order into law

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has signed an Executive Order to establish the state’s Social Investment Programme (SIP).

Abiodun, while signing the order in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the programme would alleviate poverty and hunger as well as ensure equitable distribution of resources to the vulnerable, the poor and the widows, among others.

The governor further said that the order would improve the social economic conditions of the people at the grassroots.
He said: “Today, we are here to witness the signing into law of an Executive Order establishing the Ogun State Social Investment Programme.
“This programme will be implemented by the Ogun State Social Investment Committee.

The social investment programme, among others, is established to alleviate poverty, hunger and ensure equitable distribution of resources to the vulnerable, the poor, the widows, traders, physically-challenged, the aged, among all other identified groups.
“It aims to improve the social economic condition of the people at the grassroots and consequently reduce poverty,” the governor noted.

Abiodun, who disclosed that the committee would be chaired by a reputable indigene of the state with high integrity and relevant experience, said that other members of the committee would comprise representatives from the ministries of Finance, Community Development and Cooperatives, Youths and Sports, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Women Affairs and Special Duties.

He added that the committee would be answerable to the office of the governor.
