Prof. Ibrahim Garba, the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, said on Friday that the institution had reviewed regulations governing higher degree studies for effective delivery of its post-graduate (PG) studies.

Garba made the remark at the 2015 matriculation ceremony of post-graduate students held at the main campus of the university in Samaru, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Garba said that the management was doing everything possible to ensure that post-graduate students graduate within the stipulated period.

“As a new administration in ABU, the task of repositioning the university to regain its glory as a centre of academic excellence has commenced in earnest.

“In our bid to improve the delivery of PG studies, regulations governing higher degree studies has recently been revised.

“Post-graduate studies will be a focal point to make ABU one of the best universities; as such, all hands must be on deck in order for this task to be achieved.”

While congratulating the new students for the rare privilege, the vice chancellor reminded them that over 12,000 applicants desired to be admitted but only less than 5,000 were successful.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the matriculation ceremony attracted academics, students and some members of the general public.
