• Clinical Trials Summit Begins Tomorrow

More than 1000 researchers from all over the world, will tomorrow, gather at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, for the 4th Clinical Trials Summit Scientific Programme scheduled to take place from June 6 to 8, 2016.

The theme of the Summit is “Clinical Research and Public Health Emergencies in sub-Saharan Africa”, while the sub-theme is “Role of the Private Sector in Public Health Emergencies.”

The Summit, organised by the Association for Good Clinical Practice in Nigeria (AGCPN) in collaboration with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), is in line with the mandate of the Director General that the summit should be held annually, as a result of the huge success and international interest attracted by the 2nd Clinical Trial Summit held in Lagos, in 2014.

In a statement, chairperson, Association for Good Clinical Practice in Nigeria (AGCPN), and organising committee of the event; Prof. Ifeoma Okoye, said: “As with the previous editions, the summit will bring together clinical trials, stakeholders globally with diverse experiences in public health, clinical research, clinical care, epidemiology, administration and management, as well as key players in the pharmaceutical industry.

“It will provide an invaluable platform for interacting with high-level experts, learn about the latest developments in the field of clinical research and public health, and share research findings with colleagues from different parts of the world.”

The clinical trial summit this year will be focusing on the role clinical trial could play in Public Health Emergencies – both before the emergencies arise (emergency preparedness) and when they arise.
