The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled September 19, 2026, for five legislative by-elections across Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
The polls will cover one federal constituency and four State House of Assembly constituencies, with voters in the affected areas expected to elect new representatives to fill vacant legislative seats.
The federal constituency election will be held in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State.
In Bauchi State, elections will take place in the Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies, while the Udu State Constituency in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State will also go to the polls.
The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Tunde Oketola, disclosed the schedule in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.
Oketola said the by-elections comprised one federal and four state constituencies.
According to Oketola, the by-elections will take place at the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe, while the state constituencies shall take place at Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi State; Udu in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu in Kano State.
The September 19 elections are expected to provide voters in the affected constituencies with an opportunity to choose representatives for the vacant legislative seats.
