The former Managing Director of Ibom Power Company (IPC), Meyen Etukudoh, had attributed the blackout in the state to a lack of gas supply to the power company by Accugas over debt payment.
Etukudoh had accused Accugas of willfully withholding gas supply to Ibom power and being adamant to resolve whatever differences during discussions, stressing that Accugas wanted to sabotage the efforts of the state government.
However, in a statement, yesterday, Accugas mentioned that the power cut in the state was due to the reported fault in the 132-KV Aba-Itu transmission line, which, unfortunately, is preventing power from being transmitted from the national grid into the state.
The company stressed that the restoration of the Aba-Itu line must be completed as soon as possible, emphasising that Accugas will continue to partner with and support the government of Akwa Ibom State towards achieving the government’s agenda for economic development and prosperity of the state.
