Stakeholders, yesterday, urged government at all levels to address the challenges faced by Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).Among the challenges are access to employment opportunities, as well as providing them with necessary tools, training, and resources to overcome difficulties in accessing and using information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
The stakeholders equally called on virtually impaired persons to continue to learn and acquire various skills to develop themselves, as well as embrace technological advancement for their personal and professional development.
Speaking in Benin City during 2023 Tech Envision Summit, a disability and inclusion advocate, Peter Ekemini, said that the programme, is to provide them with necessary tools, training, and resources to overcome challenges in accessing and using ICTs.
Ekemini said visually impaired persons are faced with many barriers and challenges in accessing and using ICTs, such as lack of accessibility, affordability, awareness, skills, and support.
According to him, these barriers limit their opportunities for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and empowerment.
