Adeboye tasks youths on voting for right candidate

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, commenting on the state of the nation, called on the youths to shun every attempt to be lured into voting for any leader who lacks credibility, integrity and the wherewithal to secure the future for them.

Speaking through the Assistant General Overseer, Admin & Personnel (RCCG), who doubles as Continental Overseer, Middle East, Pastor Johnson Odesola, during the monthly thanksgiving service with the theme: ‘Meant for the top’, at the RCCG Headquarters, Ebute-metta, Adeboye charged the youths to be focused and refuse to be deceived by politicians who are inconsiderate, only fighting for their pockets.

“It is time for the youth to arise, take their destinies in their hands, and occupy their position as the owners and future leaders of Nigeria. I am persuaded that if they are united and determined, they can affect the necessary change in governance.

“If the youth should get involved in money politics, they would no doubt be mortgaging their future. They should look beyond today, be determined, and pitch their tents with those that are sincere to help them realize their dreams,” he said.

Adeboye, who berated politicians for always indulging in ungodly and election malpractices, expressed optimism that the youths are bold, courageous, and have what it takes to change the narrative.

He said Nigerians are no doubt aware of diverse methods of manipulation politicians engage in during elections and asked the youth to ensure they get their PVC no matter the cost.

He advised them to show interest in politics, start at the grass-root or local level with a view to being among the delegates that would be electing the right president, describing as preposterous the idea whereby 2000 delegates decide the fate of over 200 million Nigerians.

He decried the attitude of the government whereby since they claimed to have been arresting bandits, no single person has been brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others, saying this does not rule out the possibility of compromise or complicity on the part of the federal government
