Adeleke orders residents to avoid LG secretariats amid violence

Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has directed all residents, including politicians across party lines, to stay away from local government secretariats to prevent further violence and safeguard public property.
Adeleke disclosed that he has directed security agencies to take charge of all local government secretariats.
Adeleke’s directive comes in response to an alleged illegal attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seize control of local government councils in the state.
Adeleke, on Monday via his X handle, condemned the alleged failed takeover bid by sacked APC chairmen and councillors.
“Following reports of a failed illegal takeover bid of local government councils in Osun by the sacked APC chairmen and councillors, I hereby direct all Osun residents, including politicians across all political divides, to stay away from the local government secretariats to protect public property and avoid further bloodshed,” Adeleke stated.
Adeleke noted that the directive “has become necessary, especially as the council secretariats are expected to be under lock and key due to the withdrawal of services, announced by workers of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) across the state.”
The governor also expressed condolences to the families of victims affected by the reported violence, stating that five members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were killed, while several others sustained injuries.
He identified the victims as two individuals from Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government, two others from Ola Oluwa Local Government, and one from Ikire.
Adeleke, however, assured Osun residents of their safety, adding that he has directed security agencies to take control of all local government secretariats.
