Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson to the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has said his principal has been able to sustain peace across the state despite the evil plot of anarchists within the opposition.
In a statement, Rasheed described an allegation that top members of the Adeleke administration are importing thugs into the state as “libelous and defamatory.”
The spokesperson made this known following tensions witnessed prior to last week’s local government elections in the state, which were swept by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said, “The mapping of the entire state revealed that the opposition APC was mainly interested in burning the state down and destroying the elected political structures. Mr. Governor smartly denied the APC the fuel for its arsonistic plan.
“The outcome is the peace we are enjoying today in Osun State. Osun people are peacefully running their lives with huge gratitude to the governor. The APC, on the contrary, is in severe pain as all its destructive plans against Osun and her people have failed.”
Rasheed revealed that the opposition has now resorted to blackmail and name-calling.
On the visit to Osun by Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed, Rasheed said it was to urge parties to abide by the rule of law and avoid illegal self-help.
He also revealed that the PDP lost five of its members last Monday, with about 85 severely injured from gunshots and machetes.
“We hasten to remind the APC that the public is aware of its stock in trade as a party of sickening fake news, with a huge electoral deficit and a widely confirmed unelectability attribute,” he added.
