Adeyemi, Okotie hinge national prosperity on youths, unity, others

Sam Adeyemi

Global strategic leadership consultant, Dr Sam Adeyemi, has called for more focus on youth empowerment, national unity and visionary leadership, saying they are crucial to addressing the nation’s most pressing challenges and driving its prosperity.

Similarly, the Shepherd Superintendent of the Household of God Church, Lagos, Rev. Chris Okotie, also urged Nigerians to reinforce their faith and hope in God’s promises.

They spoke in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.

Adeyemi emphasised that the key to long-term success lay in investing in its young population, saying: “Over 60 per cent of Nigeria’s population comprises young people. You cannot discuss the development of this country without discussing the youth. Their education, skills and capacity must be prioritised.”

According to him, youth empowerment is essential for economic growth and vital in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, which are critical drivers of a vibrant economy.

He noted that while Nigeria had made significant strides since 1960, more was still needed to be done to harness the talents of young Nigerians.

“Most people in our country haven’t yet discovered or aligned with their talents. Life shouldn’t be just about survival; it’s about thriving through discovering one’s purpose,” he said.
