African youths get digital skills to unlock employment opportunities

Unemployed youths in Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya have acquired essential digital skills, which has significantly enhanced their prospects of securing employment or successfully launching their own entrepreneurial ventures. 

This was achieved as a not-for-profit organisation, Digify Africa, recently completed a 12-week intensive Bootcamp for young Nigerians between the ages of 20 and 30. 

The award-winning programme tagged Digify Pro Online Cohort 6, witnessed participants improving their digital skills and opening up opportunities to commence fruitful careers in digital marketing and advertising. 

Specifically, it provided practical learning experiences, including digital literacy training, work readiness modules, and peer-to-peer learning.

The parent organisation, Digify Africa is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

The Programme Director, Digify Nigeria, Florence Atunwa-Olumodimu, said participants gained in-demand technical skills supported by foundational digital literacy training, work readiness modules, and a peer-to-peer learning approach.

“The end goal of the Digital Skills Bootcamp is to inject the Nigerian advertising industry with well-trained Digify Pro-graduates who bring a new burst of energy and cutting-edge skills.

“We are reaching out to marketing communication agencies and organisations who would like to hire our Bootcamp,” she said.  She revealed that the programme has successfully equipped 82 participants in Nigeria with essential digital marketing skills, preparing them to launch their careers in the digital marketplace. 

“Through Digify Pro, participants gain a comprehensive understanding of digital marketing, including social media strategy, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Content Marketing, and Data Analytics,”  Atunwa-Olumodimu, said. 

Delivered by expert trainers, the programme ensures learners are well-prepared for the professional world. Initially offered face-to-face, the programme has recently transitioned to a fully online format.

The reimagined Digify Pro Online leverages cutting-edge technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to provide a flexible and impactful learning experience. 

The Bootcamp taught participants the full spectrum of digital marketing from social media strategy, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), content marketing, Introduction to Web design, Data Analytics, Paid Advertising and AI in Content Generation.
