Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched an investigation into the accident involving Valuejet airplane at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Tuesday.
The aircraft, with 62 passengers and a five-member crew, upon arriving Rivers State from Lagos, was said to have overshot the runway.
The incident, involving the Bombardier CRJ-900LR facility, with Nationality and Registration Marks 5N-BXR, happened around 3:32pm (local time) on November 14.
In a statement by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, James Odaudu, the bureau confirmed that unravelling of the immediate and remote causes of the incident had begun.
NSIB affirmed that no injury or fatality was recorded, just as it added that the airline was intact.
It cautioned the public and media against speculating likely causes and invading the privacy of those on board.
