Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Akwa Ibom Sector Commander, Matthew Olonisaye, has cautioned motorists against reckless driving, saying that 606 officers, including special marshals, have been deployed to major routes across the state ahead of Easter celebration.

To facilitate seamless and effective coverage of all critical traffic corridors and areas in the state, he said 11 patrol vehicles, two ambulances and tow trucks have also been deployed.

He called on drivers to obey traffic signs, signals and markings communicating certain road characteristics and features and obey speed limits.
Olonisaye said to minimise road carnages, drivers must avoid recklessness, speeding, dangerous and wrong overtaking, driving against traffic and overloading with goods and passengers.

“Remember, life has neither duplicate nor spare parts. So, we must consciously strive to protect and safeguard our lives, especially, while using or sharing the roads with others, realising that our family members, friends and well-wishers eagerly wait to receive and welcome us back home alive.”
