The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Olanrewaju Yomi Oladimeji, has tasked police officers to exhibit professionalism, respect, courtesy and civility to members of the public at all times. He said rascality by police officers and lack of decorum will be dealt with under his watch.

The AIG gave the warning during his parting lecture with top management team and senior officers at Police Officers’ Mess in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Oladimeji, who was Ogun State Commissioner of Police, until his elevation, relayed the principal focus of the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, in alignment with his strategies in positioning the Nigeria Police Force within his vision and agenda.

The AIG warned against shoddy and shabby investigation, stressing that it will no longer be sustainable as he is determined to train and improve police officers on the required skills needed to aid their development in the art of investigation.

Reaffirming his commitment to suppressing criminality, he underscored that speedy response to distress calls was germane to his administration, and that police officers will better their arrival time at any location while responding to distress calls.

“In view to ending pockets of reported incidents of violent crimes, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officer were signalled to intensify their effort to prune off insecurity of all kinds in their area of responsibility, by gathering intelligence from locals, at the same time with relevant synergy with other security agencies,” he added.

Oladimeji appreciated his management team for their devotion to service for the stint time with them, not forgetting his team players, the senior officers present. He advocated that similar unwavering support should be given to the Commissioner of Police taking over from him.

In response, spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said: “Promotion is a reward for a meritorious service, as the AIG makes his departure to Zone 11 Command Osogbo, he will be fondly remembered by Ogun people for his mantra, of ‘see something say something’ and his zero tolerance for cultism.

“On behalf of Ogun State Police Command, I bid farewell to an iconic valiant boss, as he marches on to undertake giant strides in his exalted office.”
