Akeredolu berates Oyedele over alleged Ondo State government lack of direction
Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has flayed the Executive Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Ife Oyedele, for his inability to restore light in the South Senatorial District of the state.
The governor also hit hard at the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Oyedele, in reaction to his allegation during an empowerment programme organised by Senator Ajayi Boroffice at the weekend, saying the present administration lacks direction.
Oyedele, who is also an aspirant in the upcoming 2020 governorship election, was quoted to have said that governance in Ondo State was a family affair and all powers lie with the First Lady, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.
In a statement made available to journalists in Akure yesterday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ojo Oyewamide, Akeredolu lambasted the NDPHC boss on his inability to restore light in his district.
“For the record, over 1,500 communities in four local councils namely: Irele, Okitipupa, Ilaje, and Ese-Odo, have been cut off the national grid for more than 10 years though reconnection project by the Federal Government is ongoing,” he said.
The governor, who is seeking re-election under the platform of the ruling party, APC, said: “We urge all and sundry to show empathy with him rather than dissipate energy over his pedestrian outburst.
“For one, Oyedele, who is the Executive Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, appears to have been overwhelmed in the pool of fantasy to the extent that he forgot he had indicted himself.
“It means Oyedele has failed in his sojourn as a power expert at that level of engagement if his division has not had power for years.
“The governorship of Ondo State is open for all to contest. But it is seemingly laughable for undiscerning minds to interpret running taps for proper qualification.”
Meanwhile, several attempts to speak with Oyedele were abortive as he refused to pick his calls and reply to the message sent to his phone for a reaction.
