Tourism would be given a top priority in Idanre, if the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, wins the governorship election.

Akeredolu made the pledge at the palace of the Owa of Idanre, Frederick Aroloye, when he met with the town’s monarchs during his campaign.

He said he would turn the hilly town of Idanre to a world- class tourist-attraction centre and earn foreign exchange, not only to develop Idanre, but also the entire state.

According to him, it has become necessary for government to explore the gains of tourism now that there is a decline in the global price of crude oil.

He added that since farming was the major occupation in the area, he would support the people to be more productive.

To facilitate the transportation of goods and services across the communities, he said he would reconstruct the road that connects Idanre with Ofosu and Ore.

This, he added, would open the area for economic transformation.

Akeredolu promised to build a golf course that would be linked by train, as in Obudu Ranch in Cross River State, to make it tourists-friendly.

Top party chieftains, among them the state’s Deputy Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, who hails from Idanre, accompanied the candidate.

Adetimehin said the warm reception, which the people gave to Akeredolu, was a positive sign of victory.
