The leadership of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Nigeria and Overseas, has described its late seventh President, Pastor Abraham Akinosun, as a courageous and exemplary leader who guided the church with wisdom, integrity and unwavering commitment to its growth.
Speaking during the burial outing service held in Akinosun’s honour at CAC All Saints’ Chapel, Ibadan, the President of CAC Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Oladele, said the late cleric would be remembered for his steadfast loyalty to the church, principled leadership and firm belief in the word of God.
Oladele noted that Akinosun, who died on March 22, 2026, at the age of 81, took bold decisions during critical moments in the church’s history and never compromised his convictions.
According to him, the late church leader distinguished himself as an assembly pastor, superintendent and eventually president of the church by standing firmly against actions capable of undermining the mission and vision of the denomination.
“And if you look at his history, he took some bold steps. Some other people may not have been able to do the things he did. He never shied away from his responsibilities.
“As an assembly pastor, he stood tall against the shenanigans of those who plotted against the church. As a superintendent, he modelled loyalty to authority, and as the seventh President of Christ Apostolic Church, he was exemplary,” Oladele said.
Also paying tribute, the General Superintendent of CAC Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Emmanuel Odejobi, described Akinosun as a fearless but humble leader who combined firmness with compassion.
Odejobi said the late cleric was “as gentle as a dove but bold as a lion,” adding that he was widely respected for his sense of fairness, openness and commitment to the advancement of the church.
He noted that the progress of CAC remained paramount in Akinosun’s thoughts until his final days, while his devotion to family life reflected his qualities as a loving husband, dependable father and respected community leader.
The General Evangelist of CAC Nigeria and Overseas, Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji, said Akinosun provided godly leadership during a significant period in the history of the church.
According to him, the late president’s tenure was marked by peace-building, spiritual revival, doctrinal soundness and administrative excellence.
“Through wisdom, prayerfulness and administrative excellence, he guided the church with remarkable grace and integrity. His tenure was characterised by peace-building, spiritual revival, doctrinal soundness and an unwavering commitment to the church’s growth.
“Baba Akinosun was not merely a church administrator; he was a shepherd after God’s heart who cared deeply for ministers and members of the church,” Oladeji said.
In his remarks, the General Secretary of CAC Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Emmanuel Mapur, said Akinosun’s legacy would endure through the lives he touched and the unity he promoted within the church.
Mapur noted that the late cleric consistently fostered harmony, reconciliation and peace wherever he served, adding that his leadership style was centred on building bridges rather than creating divisions.
Speaking on behalf of the family, one of the deceased’s sons, Taiwo Akinosun, described his father as his closest friend and a constant source of wisdom and guidance.
“I will miss everything about him, his words of wisdom, his counsel and our conversations. We spoke almost every day, and I will cherish those memories forever,” he said.
He recalled that shortly before his passing, the late cleric wore what he described as an indescribable smile, suggesting he departed peacefully.
Born on February 27, 1945, Pastor Abraham Akinosun is survived by his children, including Taiwo Akinosun, Mrs Felicia Olatunbode and Kehinde Akinosun-Olaseni.
