he Council of Ojuju Agbadufu Igala and governorship aspirant on the platform of APC, Patrick Ademu Akpa has described the recent visit to the President by traditional rulers to canvass presidency’s support for Governor Yahaya Bello as the height of political gimmick aimed at cajoling the electorates ahead of the November election.

While the council believes that the traditional institutions must have been pressured to make the trip to endorse Bello, the aspirant warned the people of the state to be wary of many political dramas such as this.

The visiting monarchs led by Attah Igala and President, Kogi State Council of Chiefs, Dr Idakwo Michael Ameh Oboni Il, also demanded for the position of finance minister in the next cabinet.

The visit has however set the monarchs against their subjects who perceived them as cash and carry rulers, ready to sell off their birthright for a pot of porridge.

The Ojuju Agbadufu’s statement was signed by the Director of Publicity of the council, Samuel Jibrin and was made available to the Guardian in Abuja yesterday.

The statement noted that some of the alleged claims made during the visit were at best to suit the event, as the state currently grapples with a lot of challenges, the least of which is outstanding salaries despite the various tranches of bailout funds received to address same.

Akpa cautioned citizens to also exercise some restraint and stop the blackmail against the traditional institutions being used for cheap political gains, describing the visit as a sad memory that would remain as one of the worst historical events in the state’s calendar.
