Akwa Ibom State Government is planning to open an artificial lake at the ongoing ARISE Park project.

It is part of efforts to turn the Ravine along Dominic Utuk Avenue in Uyo, the state capital, into a tourist centre.

According to the state, the artificial lake, which is under construction, will be accessible either by boat or footbridge by visitors and tourists wishing to be served in a restaurant situated at the centre of the park as a tourism attraction.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Charles Udoh, disclosed this weekend while appearing as a guest on MIXX Radio 88.7 FM on the program “Inside The ARISE Agenda.”

Udoh listed other planned features of ARISE Park to include: a nine-hole golf course; a clubhouse; football field; children’s arcade; and guest chalets, stressing that Governor Umo Eno was poised to transform the Ravine into a premier recreational destination for tourists.

He stressed that with tourism on the front burner of the ARISE Agenda, the government was putting together all necessary apparatus to bolster the success of the sector, such as the development of the “Discover Akwa Ibom” website into a comprehensive tourism portal linked to the state’s official website for the benefit of tourists and visitors to the state.

The commissioner stated that when fully operational, the website would be the official platform to offer a range of verified tourism packages, including accommodation, transportation services, restaurants, lounges, nightclubs, and more, making it easier for visitors to explore and choose their preferred options.

Speaking on the much-anticipated Christmas Unplugged 2.0, Udoh hinted that the content of the fiesta would soon be unveiled, promising a grand spectacle.

He averred that more guests were expected to attend Christmas Unplugged 2.0 from neighbouring states, as there was a ferry service to convey visitors to the state by sea, while Ibom Air would fly in visitors by air.
