Alaibe condoles Dickson, Bayelsa people over killing of gov’s aides

Former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaibe, has described the death of Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Mobilisation to Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Seidougha Taribi and Government House Photographer, Reginald Dei, as sad and undeserving.

The deceased, who were both buried at the weekend, were killed last month in their homes at Oweikoroagha in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area during the Presidential and National Assembly elections. 

In a statement in Yenogoa yesterday, Alaibe said the murders were not only a loss to Bayelsa people and Nigeria, but also a sad commentary on the nation’s democracy. 

He stated that more painful was the fact that several weeks after their assassination, no one has been arrested and prosecuted, adding that the killing speaks volumes about the level of insecurity in the country and reduction of life to nothingness. 
Alaibe noted that no Nigerian, no matter where he comes from and no matter his political leaning, deserves to be murdered and forgotten.

Commiserating with the governor, he said, “Let us queue behind Dickson and hoist our hopes on the pole of uprightness, obedience to constituted authorities and the lifting of our people and our state. 

“To the families of the departed, accept my deep condolences. For some of us who have lost beloved ones, your physical anguish, mental distress and sense of deprivation are understandable.”
