The Old Students’ Association of Community Comprehensive High School, Ikaram-Akoko, Ondo State, has embarked on “Train a Child” initiative to curtail the rising spate of insecurity in the country and give back to their alma mater.

President of the association, Olurotimi Williams-Daudu, who spoke at the inauguration of the renovated five classrooms block and foundation laying ceremony of the school’s administrative building at the weekend in Akoko North-West of the state, said the initiative targets indigent students with bright academic prospects, and identified by the school principal and his team for sponsorship by willing members of the old students.

He noted that whosoever adopts a student under the initiative would be responsible for payment of school fees, provision of school uniform, sandals and books for such student.

Besides, he said the association, through its unrelenting efforts to contribute to raise the falling standard of education in the nation, attracted construction of projects worth N12 million to the school.

Williams-Daudu, therefore, urged the state government to complement the association’s efforts, as they were also aware of dwindling resources.

Meanwhile, Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, said the gesture of the association would go a long way in solving most of the infrastructural problems at most citadels of knowledge in the state.

Also, Principal of the school, Mr. Adebisi Adesina, commended the association for always giving back to the school in terms of academic endowment, infrastructural development and welfare of the teachers of the school.
