I was outside Nigeria, Chidoka explains
Leadership of the Abuja wing of the Obosi Development Union (ODU), has lampooned representative of Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, for failing to respond to issues raised on her absence from Senate plenary when electronic transmission of votes was decided.

ODU frowned on her attempt to justify her absence through a statement, stressing that by ignoring the letter sent to her, she showed apathy towards the welfare of her constituents, which warranted her absence from her legislative duty.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, yesterday, President and Secretary of ODU, Goddy Ikebuaku and Chimezie Obi, said while the union queried Ekwunife and representative of Idemili North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Obinna Chidoka, only the latter responded.

Obi recalled that on July 19, 2021, the union wrote a letter titled: Request For Explanation Of Your Absence At Plenary On July 15, 2021.

He stated that the letters were addressed to both lawmakers at the National Assembly, noting that instead of replying the union, Ekwunife decided to circulate a statement.

ODU said unlike the senator, Chidoka promptly responded to the correspondence, explaining why he was unavoidably absent from House of Representatives plenary during voting on the Electoral Act amendment bill on July 15, 2021.

The union said it decided to inform members of the public that contrary to Ekwunife’s purported statement on various platforms, it had been placed on record that she deliberately despised a simple communication in display of political grandstanding.
