Anambra State government has handed over the founder of Arrows of God Community Children’s Home, Nkwelle 33, Rev. D.C Ogo, who was alleged to have been involved in an illegal adoption, to men of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, questioned Ogo, yesterday, in her office, and later handed her over to NAPTIP authorities.
She expressed disappointment on the bad image people like Ogo were causing the state, despite the government’s efforts to rid the state of such practices.
“I’m using this opportunity to warn other community children’s home operators to desist from all forms of illegalities that will bring bad name to the state,” the Commissioner noted.
In a statement, the Media assistant to the Commissioner, Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, said Ogo blamed her secretary, Mr. Monday, who handled the adoption processes.
Recall that the orphanage was sealed up some months ago, after revelations contained in an investigative report indicted the home. Also, the ministry recovered over 20 children kept in the home before it was sealed.
