Thirty-six-year old Brazilian-Spaniard, Marcus Mondo, the suspected murderer of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, a pupil of Bancroft School in Hainaut, North east London, will today appear before a Central Criminal Court at the Old Bailey, London.

The 14-year old was killed while walking to Bancroft School in Hainaut, Northeast London, where he was a pupil.
Mondo is charged with two attempted murders, possessing a bladed article, two-count of grievous bodily harm as well as aggravated burglary.

The 36 -year old’s case was transferred to the Old Bailey from Westminster Magistrate’s Court, where he appeared before judge Paul Goldsping on Thursday.

Mondo of Newham, East London, was only required to confirm his name during the brief hearing.

After reiterating his name, Goldspring told him: “I’m going to send your case, all seven-count charges, to the Central Criminal Court. You might know it as the Old Bailey. l don’t have power to consider bail. You will be remanded in custody to appear on May 7.”

Confirming this to The Guardian on Friday, an Old Bailey staff noted that “he’s coming in for mention,” in court 5.

Asked when the trial will be, she said:” We don’t know the trial date yet.”

On Sunday, residents of Hainaut and the surroundings held a candlelight memorial service for the murdered schoolboy at the Hainaut tube station car park.

His older brother’s friend, also a Bancroft School pupil, was among those who eulogised him. He told mourners: “He never did anything wrong. He focused on school and went to church.”

After the service, Daniel’s cousin was asked if Dr and Mrs Anjorin will be at the Old Bailey for the hearing, she said: “l can’t comment.”
