Anti-graft agency says man posing as EFCC staff on matchmaking show dismissed

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed that a man who posed as an EFCC staff member on a matchmaking programme had been dismissed before appearing on the programme.

During the matchmaking programme, the dismissed staff member was seen with an identity card bearing his picture and the EFCC’s logo.

In a statement shared on the EFCC’s official page on X on Monday, the agency identified the man as Olakunle Alex Folarin.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, condemned in the strongest terms, the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami social media platforms,” the EFCC wrote.

According to the anti-graft agency, Folarin, who was a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, was dismissed from the commission for certificate forgery.

The agency further noted that despite his dismissal, Folarin has some of the EFCC’s properties, including an identity card, which he was required to hand over upon being dismissed from the EFCC.

The EFCC chairman, however, has ordered his arrest. The agency also advised members of the public against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC.
